White Deer Park
This natural and whimsical Town of Garner park features 10-foot-wide paved greenway that spans approximately 2,600 linear feet, and includes a bridge over wetlands. The trail connects White Deer and Lake Benson Parks to Timber Drive, and serves as a link to an existing 2.2-mile paved trail as well as a four-mile-long sidewalk loop along Timber Drive.
CALYX’s scope of services includes grading review and recommendations, providing the soil and erosion control plan, and the sizing of drainage cross pipes as necessary. Our environmental services group also worked with the Town of Garner to prepare the required documentation to obtain FEMA approval for this greenway extension by submitting a CLOMR and LOMR to FEMA for the project. They also performed an extensive natural resources assessment, which included obtaining soil data, a list of federally protected species for Wake County from the USFWS, a GIS map of NCDWQ waters, NCDENR Anadromous fish spawning waters and other protected species, and the delineation of jurisdictional streams. This included coordination with the USACE and NCDWQ to obtain a preliminary jurisdictional determination on any streams and wetlands within the project area.
