Greensboro, NC | Moser Mayer Phoenix

The City of Greensboro’s first LEED certified building—this new, $18-million, 65,000-SF, two-story transportation and bus maintenance facility is located on 17 acres and houses all administrative and operations personnel as well as vehicles and vehicle maintenance areas for the Greensboro Transit Authority. The facility features a structural steel frame with composite floor deck, cast-in-place concrete basement walls, and masonry infill walls. This eco-friendly project was designed to achieve LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council for maximizing the amount of natural daylight and using automated lighting controls as well as highly recyclable, rapidly renewable resources; a thermal building envelope; and US-made materials—all under a 16,500-square-foot “green roof” garden and solar panels providing hot water for the building. The facility was designed with materials and technology that will sustain it far into the future.
